Seven People Convicted for Dispersal on May 26

Seven people were convicted for killing and health damage of people in Rustaveli Avenue on May 26, 2011.

The Chief Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia reported that according to current data, five accused pleaded guilty and petitioned for plea-bargain.

“On July 28-29 of 2011, the Tbilisi City Court approved plea-bargains. Amiran Merebashvili was sentenced to 4-year-imprisonment and five-year conditional sentence; Aleksandre Bibiluri was sentenced to eight-year-imprisonment and five-year conditional sentence; Nikoloz Zautashvili – to eight-year imprisonment and five-year conditional sentence; Koba Kobauri to three-year imprisonment and five-year conditional sentence and Ilia Zivzivadze to two-year-imprisonment and five-year conditional sentence,” the statement of the Prosecutor’s Office.

As for Shakria Zurashvili and Ivane Chighvinadze, the investigation is still going on their cases. The representatives of the Prosecutor’s Office clarified that they will update the society with complete and detailed information about the investigation process; relatively, the society will learn about all interesting circumstances as well as all evidence against the accused people.
