Energy Ombudsman and National Commission of Electricity Regulation not Reacting upon the Violations

August 22, 2011

Human Rights Center accusses National Commission of Electricity Regulation and Public Defender of Subscribers’ interests Valeri Pkhakadze in the indifference towards the violations of subscribers’ rights by Kakheti Energy Distribution.

According to Human Rights Center, Kakheti Energy Distribution gravely violates rights of subscribers and the violations are of mass scale. National Commission of Electricity Regulation and Energy Ombudsman do not react upon the violations disseminated by the media outlets.

“Moreover, they do not even show interest. Instead of protecting subscribers interests they protect interests of energy distribution company. National Commission of Electricity Regulation has adopted a decree, the so-called temporary rule according to which Kakheti Energy Distribution forces subscribers to pay hundreds and thousands of GEL apart from the consumed electricity fee. Otherwise, they are denied the electricity,” – states the Human Rights Center.
