Badri Bitsadze was Imposed Imprisonment Sentence in Absentia

August 22, 2011

On August 19th Tbilisi City Court imposed five years and six months imprisonment sentence against the husband and a former head of border police Badri Bitsadze.

The court found Badri Bitsadze guilty in the following offences: “creation of half military group” the goal of which was “to arrange attack against the police officials that would grow into the mass physical conflict” during the May street actions.”

Bitsadze’s lawyers stated that the charges against their client are falsified and the testimony of the main witness of the prosecution was obtained by pressure and contains numerous inadequacies.
