September 2, 2011

The members of the President’s Security Service detained journalist of the Information Center of Kakheti Natia Danelishvili during implementation of her professional activities in Kvareli.

ICK’s editor Gela Mtivlishvili said the security officers demanded the journalist to delete the photos; before they restricted her movement.

The journalist said the president’s security officers threatened her to destroy the photo-camera unless she deleted the photos.

Danelishvili asked the police officers located near the recently rehabilitated Gremi Monastery for help but in vain.

Mikheil Saakashvili opened the recently renovated Gremi Monastery Compex at 1:00 pm today.

Information Center of Kakheti requested prompt release of the journalist. Representative of the Georgian President’s Administration Irma Nadirashvili told the Center that journalist Natia Danelishvili had photographed the escort of the president that was forbidden; relatively she had problems with the security service. Nadirashvili promised the ICK to resolve the problem soon.

Short time later, Natia Danelishvili was released. Her freedom was restricted during 40 minutes.
