IDPs from Potskhoetseri to Be Transferred to Poti

September 23, 2011

Part of IDPs from Potskhoetseri, evicted from Tbilisi will be accommodated in Poti in the new region, one of the IDPs stated to tspress.ge.

According to him, the reasons of accommodation in Poti are construction of Khudonhes for which thousands of workers will be brought in Potskhoetseri. In order to provide houses for Khudonhes workers, the IDPs will have to move out from their places.

According to one of the IDPs, in March and April of this year, a new registration of IDPs took place in Potskhoetseri.

“Indian investors inspected the apartment buildings where we the IDPs from Tbilisi live. Later we found out that our buildings were rejected,” – states an IDP.

According to the existing data, approximately twenty families of IDPs evicted from Tbilisi in 2010 live in Potskhoetseri.

According to the official website of the Ministry of Energy, the Indian Company Trans Electrical Limited will conduct the construction works on the hydro energetic potential of the river Enguri.

Khudonhes will be built on the river Enguri 75 km afar from the city of Zugdidi and 35 km afar from the Enguri dam in the northern direction. The construction started in 1979 and will be stopped in 1989.
