Call for Human Rights Students

The Human Rights House Tbilisi is pleased to invite students to participate in the competition of the best competition about human rights.

The Human Rights House Tbilisi aims to enhance discussion about human rights situation in Georgia among students and youths in general.

Applicants shall send CVs and compositions about human rights, best of which will be published on the website of the International Human Rights House Foundation   www.humanrightshouse.org.

The composition shall be about any of the rights guaranteed by the European Convention on Human Rights. In addition, it should demonstrate the compliance of the Georgian legislation with the Convention as well as about its efficient practical implementation.

Every student can participate in the competition.

The competition will be conducted in two stages; the jury of representatives of various NGOs will nominate the winner. Competition participants and winners will receive special certificates.

The submitted compositions will be uploaded on the HRHT’s page on Facebook; authors of the most popular compositions will receive encouraging prizes.

Competition Requirements:

• only electronic versions of the compositions will be accepted;
• the length of each composition must not exceed 1500-2000 words;
• the compositions must be written in Georgian language; but, those, who will successful pass first stage, will be required to submit compositions in English too;
• in order to verify the information or other data mentioned in the submitted material, the author must enclose the source of information;
• the application must contain applicant’s personal information, name of university, faculty and contact information.

The deadline for submission: 6:00 pm, November 15, 2011

The winners will be nominated on December 10, on the Event Dedicated to the International Human Rights Day.

The Competition is announced in the framework of the project “Youth Club for Human Rights” implemented by the HRHT and with the support of the Swiss Embassy in Georgia
