Father-in-law of Director of Bidzina Ivanishvili’s Charity Foundation Detained, Father – Fired

Detention of former head of Kakheti police Tamaz Tamazashvili might be connected to Bidzina Ivanishvili. Tamazashvili’s son-in-law – husband of his daughter is Irakli Gharibashvili, head of Bidzina Ivanishvili’s charity foundation. Along with Tamazashvili’s detention, Irakli Gharibashvili’s father Tariel Gharibashvili was fired.

Tamaz Tamazashvili was detained on October 12th in Tbilisi. Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) and Office of Prosecutor do not comment on his detention.

“Ask MIA, it’s their job,” – the head of the Press Center of main office of prosecutor of Georgia Eka Chichua stated.

“Ask Press Center. I do not know anything,” – the head of analytical department of MIA Shota Utiashvili noted.

MIA Press Center did not answer the phone calls for the whole day long.

According to unverified information, a gun was seized from Tamaz Tamazashvili’s car during the detention. The search was also conducted in the house of Tamazashvili in Dedoplistkaro at Dzneladze St. As the witnesses told Kakheti Information Center, the search was conducted by the local police officials. “Police searched his house and as I know the gun was seized from there as well. But they could have easily planted guns,” – the head of Dedoplistskaro organization of political party Free Georgia Tamila Gurashvili noted.

Tamaz Tamazashvili headed the main regional agency of MIA in Kakheti during 2000-2002. He was a head of Dedoplistskaro police earlier.

According to exclusive information of Kakheti Information Center, father of Irakli Gharibashvili Tariel Gharibashvili who worked as a procurator of territorial organ of the village Tsiteltskaro was also fired. Governor of Dedoplistskaro municipality Nikoloz Shanshiashvili confirmed the fact of Tariel Gharibashvili’s dismissal. Accordin to him, Tariel Gharibashvili requested so in the written form.

- Why did he write request?

- Because of his family conditions.

- Specifically? Didn’t you ask?

- No, I did not ask. He wrote request and we satisfied it.

Kakheti Information Center tried to contact Tariel Gharibashvili. A lady answered the phone and noted that she is his wife and added: “You will not be able to talk to him. He is not here.”

- Does he not have another phone?

- No.

- Why did he leave job?

- He is sick, has high blood pressure and heart problems.

- Was he sick before?

- Please, leave us alone. We do not want to talk about anything.”

Businessman Bidzina Ivanishvili disseminated a statement regarding creation of political party and participation in elections on October 7th and addressed the public with next open letter on October 12th. Bidzina Ivanishvili advices President Mikheil Saakashvili to resign.
