Round Table: “Monitoring of Closed Online Relationship”

Round Table: “Monitoring of Closed Online Relationship”

On October 20, Thursday, at 1:00 pm (address: Dzmebi Zubalashvili Str. 7B, 5th floor) Human Rights House Tbilisi together with the Institute for War and Peace Reporting (IWPR) invites interested people to the round table: “Monitoring of Closed Online Relationship” – ordinary operative-investigative procedures or violation of right to personal life.

On September 24, 2010 amendments were introduced to the Law on Operative-Investigative Activities which entitled law enforcement bodies to monitor closed online relations without preliminary court permission. Part of experts thinks that the new norm is obscure and violates the right to personal life guaranteed by the Constitution of Georgia.

The round table aims to allow interested people to thoroughly discuss and analyze the issue.

Main speakers:

Giorgi Gotsiridze – lawyer from the Georgian Young Lawyers’ Association
Dodka Kharkheli – Social Media Consultant

Moderator: Ia Antadze (journalist)

Unfortunately, the initiators of the abovementioned draft-law refused to participate in the discussion.

For the additional information, please, contact Shorena Latatia, Human Rights House Tbilisi 8322 18-04-71; 598 51 91 26; email: mediacentre.hrht@gmail.com

Attendance is free!

The Round Table is organized in the framework of the Media Center of the Human Rights House Tbilisi with financial support of the National Endowment for Democracy.
