According to Venice Commission, Use of Biometrical Data is Optimal Solution for Elections

October 28, 2011

Secretary of Venice Commission Thomas Markert considers use of biometrical data to be the best and optimal solution in the elections.

Thomas Markert stated the corresponding at the press conference held in the Parliament on September 27th. According to him, Venice Commission always had problem with the web cameras as the existence of cameras might have intimidated and scared the voters.

According to him, it seems like there were certain shortcomings regarding the marking procedure in the past. He thinks that other approaches must be sought to solve the issues of cameras and marking.

Thomas Markert states that though the use of biometrical data is the best solution for long-term run, it needs time and will probably not be managed for the upcoming elections.
