School Principal Fired Teacher and Assigned Her Niece Instead

October 28, 2011

The principal of public school of the village Khirsi of Sighnaghi region Makvala Ghvedashvili fired the teacher and assigned her niece instead. The dismissed teacher Lali Gonashvili notified the Kakheti Information Center.

“I taught physics and arts. The principal handed to me the order of dismissal on September 1st and assigned her niece instead, a teacher of primary education. The order of dismissal does not note what the ground of my dismissal was. The principal just told me in verbal that I am not a specialist of the subject. I addressed the head of the educational resource center of the region Temur Balarjishvili who told me that it was no longer essential to write the reason in the order of dismissal and that the art classes belonged to the competence of the teacher of primary education. I have graduated from Tbilisi State University and principal’s niece from the private institution,” – the dismissed teacher Lali Gonashvili noted.

The school principal Makhvala Ghvedashvili confirmed the employment fact of her niece in the school. “I really passed the art classes to my niece because she is the teacher of primary education and it belongs to her competence. It is a different time now and all subjects are taught by the specialists. Lali Gonashvili is the specialist of chemistry and that is why she was dismissed. It is not up to Lali Gonashvili to decide who to employ in the school. I make decisions here,” – Makhvala Ghvedashvili noted.
