Villages in Khevsureti Region Are Empty

November 3, 2011

The last resident of Khakhabo village has also abandoned Pirikita Khevsureti. Another village of the same region Archilo also got empty. The residents of the region told the ICMM that the mountainous region is left without attention; the roads are not cleaned in winter and there are no living conditions there.

“My mother is an old woman and she cannot live in the mountain. So, I took her to the valley. In spring she will remain in the valley again and I will go to the mountain again. Nobody pays attention to the mountain; roads are not cleaned. There are no conditions to live there in mountain,” said Badri Mindikauri from Khakhabo village.

Another village of Pirikita Khevsureti Giorgitsminda was abandoned long ago. Khevsureti residents left the village several years ago. They do not go there even in summer.
