Technical Mistake or Auction with Preliminarily Known Results?

November 4, 2011

Four auctions on new trading booths in the capital announced by the Tbilisi City Hall are scheduled for November 7, 9, 15 and 16, 2011. But on November 2, Newspaper “Resonance” found the trading booth two weeks before the scheduled auctions in Saburtalo district, at the corner of Bulachauri and Iosebidze streets.

“Resonance” published the article about the issue in its November 4 issue – “Auction with Preliminarily Known Results?!”

The Tbilisi City Hall thanked to the media sources for having discovered the booth in Bulachauri Street and states: “We are grateful to all media sources who discovered and reported about the booth from Bulachauri street. We would like to note that we have announced auction on this spot too. However, it is a technical mistake and we apology to the owner of the booth and other people who intend to participate in the auction. The auction for the spot will be held. As for the booth, which was placed in Bulachauri Street based on the permission issued on August 14, will be replaced. Within a year, the lease agreement expires and the owner will have chance to participate in the auction.”

Four auctions are scheduled for obtaining the right to place trading booths in Tbilisi. The number of placement spots is 223; the winners will be allowed to place their booths for the next five years.
