Lasha Chkhartishvili and Environmentalists Protested Cutting Down of Trees in the Hippodrome

November 8, 2011

Member of the Georgian Conservative Party Lasha Chkhartishvili protested cutting of the trees in the territory of the Tbilisi Hippodrome.

On November 8 he held press-conference at the hippodrome and blamed the governmental officials in cutting down of plants and 60-year-old trees.

Chkhartishvili said the governmental officials cut the trees down in order to earn money. He said Nika Rurua’s [minister of culture of Georgia] brother Giorgi Rurua and representative of the government Giorgi Udesiani are involved in this business.

Environmentalists also joined the action who said the cutting down of trees will create health problems for Tbilisi residents. They declared they will protest similar facts in future too.
