A Friend of Detainees Crashed into a Police Station by a Long Truck

November 9, 2011

Mamuka Kantaria, GuriaNews

An incident occurred in Lanchkhuti town and police detained three young men. The annoyed friend of the detainees crashed into the police station by a long truck three times.

The Guria News was reported about the incident late at night on November 7. As a rule, police do not comment on the incident. So, we can report only what we saw and what witnesses told us. We arrived at the scene of incident late at night. The incident had occurred at 11:00 pm and at our arrival criminal police officers and expertise bureau were already working there.

Reportedly, the driver, who supposedly was drunk, crashed into the police station by a long truck.

“It was already late evening when we heard three loud crashes. Looking out we saw a long truck was crashing into the police station,” a citizen told us.

Although the truck crashed into the building three times, the wall was not destroyed – only façade and the plate on it were damaged. The building was more damaged inside.

What is the reason for the assault on the police building?

We could not get exact information about the incident. According to one of the versions, young men had quarreled in the town center. As a result, police officers detained some of them and after that a friend of the detainees drove towards the police station by his truck. Supposedly, he was not allowed into the building and he decided “to assist his friends” with similar methods.

According to our information, the driver was immediately arrested and as people rumor in the town he was severely beaten too. Supposedly, he will be charged under quite a grave article.

A criminal case was already launched and Ozurgeti district prosecutor’s office supervises the investigation process. Reportedly, Minister of Interior Vano Merabishvili was also informed about the incident on the same night.
