Menace of Prison Personnel and His Family Member to Be Punished Under Criminal Law

November 25, 2011

Menace to prison personnel and his/her family members will be punished under Criminal Law. The amendments introduced to the Criminal Code of Georgia by the Parliament of Georgia are already in force.

Before, disobedience to the lawful order of the personnel of the detention setting or custody; or hamper or disorganization of his/her professional activities was punished with imprisonment up to three years in term.

The new regulation envisages imprisonment up to three years for disobedience to lawful order, violence against the prison personnel, threatening the prison personnel and his relatives with death, health or property damage. However, the threat shall be connected with his professional activities.

The same punishment is envisaged for the hinder or disorganization of the detention setting functioning.
