Term to Appeal Court’s Judgment on Ekaterina Khvedelidze’s Case Is Due to Expire Today

January 24, 2012

President Saakashvili’s term to appeal against the Court’s judgment on Ekaterina Khvedelidze’s case is due to expire on January 24.

Khvedelidze’s lawyer Zakaria Kutsnashvili told the Interpresnews that the court delivered the motivated judgment to them on January 10. Supposedly, the president also received the copy of the judgment on the same time. However, Kutsnashvili said the president might have received the judgment 1-2 days later.

The 14-day term to sue the judgment starts from the delivery of the judgment to the parties. If the president does not sue the court’s judgment on Khvedelidze’s case, the document will go in force automatically.

The Civil Registration Agency will be entitled to issue ID of Georgian Citizen to Khvedelidze.

On December 27, 2011 the Tbilisi City Court partly satisfied the suit of Bidzina Ivanishvili and Ekaterina Khvedelidze. The Court annulled the decree of the president of Georgia to strip of Georgian citizenship from Khvedelidze but did not satisfy Ivanishvili’s suit on the same issue. The suitors requested the Court to annul the decree of the president of Georgia which striped of their Georgian citizenships.
