Term for Signing Memorandum of Solidarity for Media Freedom Has Expired

The term for signing Memorandum of Solidarity for Media Freedom has expired. 31 media outlets have joined the new media union:

Magazine “Ghia Boklomi” (Open Lock); 10. Paper “Banks and Finances”; 11. Agency “Messenger”; 12. Radio “Maestro”; 13. TV Company “Maestro”; 14. Media Corporation “Asaval-Dasavali”;  15. Newspaper Borjomi 16. Magazine Kvakutkhedi 17. Newspaper “Republic of Georgia” 18. “Global Contact Consulting” 19. “Global TV” 20. Newspaper “Georgia and World” 20. Information Agency “Iverioni” 21. Magazine “Business and Legislation” 22. Newspaper “Today and Tomorrow” 23. Agency “Tbilisi” 24. Studio GNS 25. TV Radio Company Trialeti 26. Information Agency Pirveli, 27. Igrika – 9th Channel 28. As one of the founders of the media outlet Mamuka Ghlonti stated, they are expecting more media outlets to join the media union. However, from now on joining the media union will be possible only by the consent and full consensus of all members.

“The main goal of the media union is to fight against the unlawfulness, to protect each other and stand together where media suffers. More than 30 media outlets have joined the union for now. We have heard about some more who would like to join, but due to some technical reasons they could not come today. They will join us in several days,” – Mamuka Ghlonti stated.

According to the memorandum of the media union, the signatory organizations agree that attacking one of the members of the union means attacking each and consequently the union will act unanimously and plan different measures including protest actions and applying to international organizations and diplomatic corpus with special address.
