Appellate Court Found Sopiko Nikolashvili’s Complaint Inadmissible

February 7, 2012

Tbilisi Appellate Court found Sopiko Nikolashvili’s complaint inadmissible. The complaint requested abolishment of the decision of Gurjaani regional court on the use of imprisonment as a compulsory measure.

As the press secretary of the Appellate Court Mariam Melkadze stated to Kakheti Information Center, Appellate Court made decision today in the morning without holding oral hearing.

The head of Gurjaani regional court Davit Narimanishvili passed imprisonment sentence as a compulsory measure against Sopiko Nikolashvili on February 3rd. Judge noted that Sopiko Nikolashvili was charged with the offence of especially grave crime and lighter compulsory measure might endanger the investigation.

Sopiko Nikolashvili is accused of attempt of murder and illegal carrying of weapon. The defendant is placed in Rustavi colony.

The pre-trial session is scheduled in Gurjaani regional court for March 9th, at 13:00 pm.
