Ministry of Justice to Supervise Information Security Policy

Ministry of Justice will supervise the Information Security Police in private and public sectors.

The draft-law about Informational Security initiated by the parliament estimated that concrete public and private agencies shall introduce set of obligations and rules – they will be obliged to ensure information security policy.

In accordance to the draft-law, Information Security Policy shall meet minimal requirements of the information security considering the necessities that will be defined by the Agency of Data Exchange – Public Legal Entity subordinated to the Ministry of Justice. The definition shall meet requirements and standards of the ISO and ISACA.

Public and private agencies, whose list is approved by the President and who play key role in the defense, economic and civic life of the country, shall be required to introduce informational security police of the Data Exchange Agency and any amendments introduced to this policy.

The initiators of the draft-law are MPs Kakhaber Anjaparidze and Zviad Kukava and if the parliament passes it, it will go in force from June 1, 2012.
