Levan Bezhashvili Clarified Reasons to Request Financial Report from Republic Institute

February 10, 2012

Chairman of the Chamber of Control Levan Bezhashvili said Republic Institute is associated with the Republic Party of Georgia and the Monitoring Service requested financial report from them due to this fact.

Bezhashvili made comment regarding the issue before his meeting with the NGO representatives.

“Republic Institute is also mentioned in the list of structures on the website of the Republic Party as a structural entity of the political party. They have personally acknowledged the fact,” Levan Bezhashvili said.

Besides that, the Chair of the Chamber of Control responded to the statement of the Republic Party who alleged that Republic Institute is not linked with the party.

Bezhashvili said everybody, who does not agree with the decision of the Financial Monitoring Service, can appeal to the Court.

“Our legislation allows everybody to appeal to the court. Some of our decisions were already sued at the court. So, there is not problem to argue with us,” said Levan Bezhashvili.

Financial Monitoring Service of the Chamber of Control requested Republic Institute and New Generation New Initiative to provide them with financial report several days ago and part of Georgian NGOs protested the fact.
