NGOs to Monitor Sofiko Nikolashvili’s Case

February 22, 2012

Head of the non-governmental organization Human Rights Priority and lawyer Lia Mukhashavria said the human rights organizations will monitor the case of the arrested journalist Sopiko Nikolashvili.

“It is completely astonishing fact. The violator must be arrested instead her. If investigation learns similar illegal fact, they should automatically schedule the expertise and investigate the fact; however, since the investigation does not act in accordance to the law, we concluded that the investigation is biased and partial. Thus, the young girl is arbitrarily detained and all investigative procedures were illegally conducted. Several organizations have agreed to prepare a joint statement and start monitoring on the case,” Lia Mukhashavria said.
