Telavi Rehabilitation Project Is not Available for Public

February 29, 2012

Telavi Rehabilitation project within the frameworks of which the reconstruction of King Erekle’s Palace is planned is not available for public. Kakheti Information Center could not receive the project neither from the Municipal Development Fund nor from the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure.

“Both employees of the press service are on their holiday leave. We do not have project in the Chancellery. We will upload it on the website when we get it,” – the employee of Municipal Development Fund Nino Pkhakadze noted.

Despite numerous addresses, the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure did not provide us with the project either. The employees of the Ministry have been promising for two days to ascertain where we can see the project but they no longer respond to the calls of Kakheti Information Center.

Telavi Municipality local government does not have the project either. However, according to the statement of the Governor of Telavi municipality Petre Kiknadze, the organizations which won the tender have already been revealed and the works will start from March 15th. According to the Deputy Governor Vazha Zuroshvili, the rehabilitation of several streets and museum complex is planned within the frameworks of the project. Erekle Palace will be partially changed after the rehabilitation. The director of Telavi Historic Museum Guram Urchukhishvili stated to Kakheti Information Center that the balconies will be set up on the second floor of the Erekle Palace memorial. According to Urchukhishvili, he does not have the rehabilitation project either.

Kakheti Information Center got interested in Telavi rehabilitation project after the photo material of one of the projects of Batoni prison rehabilitation besides the historic museum of Telavi was disseminated on facebook.
