Democratic Movement Protests Judgment of the Supreme Court on the Case of Nino Burjanadze’s Driver

March 7, 2012

The Democratic Movement – United Georgia protests the judgment of the Supreme Court of Georgia which did not change the verdict of two courts on imposing 12-year-imprisonment on Shakro Zurashvili, driver of Nino Burjanadze.

The party member Besik Tabatadze said at the press-conference on March 6 that the courts did not consider the valid evidence which proved innocence of Shakro Zurashvili. Namely, the conclusion of the Samkharauli Forensic Expertise National Bureau excluded the possibility of crashing Nino Burjanadze’s cars with anybody or anything.

Tabatadze added that Shakro Zurashvili and other drivers are completely innocent and they were arbitrarily imprisoned.

“We would like to remind the society that it is part of nasty slander campaign linked with the bloody dispersal of the May 26 peaceful demonstration; the inhuman regime still continues this campaign. Those events ended with casualty and 42 new political prisoners in Georgia,” Tabatadze said.

He added that soon or later all judges and particularly Kote Kublashvili in particular will be punished for thousands of unfair judgments and slave obedience to the unfair regimes which results into thousands of arbitrary prisoners placed in inhuman conditions.
