Students of Law Faculty of Tbilisi State University will Be Limited to Use Russian Literature in Scientific Work

Students of law faculty of Tbilisi State University will be limited to use Russian literature as a source in scientific work according to the order of the dean of law faculty Irakli Burduli.

According to the order, “Russian language sources used for any scientific work performed at the stages of bachelor, master and doctoral studies, also published in the Law Magazine should not exceed one fifth of all sources used for the work.”

Dean of law faculty Irakli Burduli states with Pirveli that students’ concern regarding this order is a “groundless boom.”

According to the order issued on March 16th “no less than 4/5 of the scientific sources used for works of students of law faculty must be literature in Western European languages.”

“In order to adopt continental European and Anglo-American legal systems, promote development of continental European law, develop modern European legal reasoning, and integrate Georgia in the modern educational world space, promote Western legal research, demonstrate modern scientific achievements of law no less than 4/5 of the scientific sources used for works of students of law faculty must be literature in Western European languages, besides exceptions consequent from the specificity of the topic,” – order states.
