Payment for Restored Electricity Supply Increased 4 Times

March 19, 2012

Georgian National Energy and Water Supply Regulatory Commission (GNERC) decided to four times raise the price for the switch on of cut off electricity supply. Before, a subscriber had to pay only 50 tetri to resume his/her cut off electricity supply for various reasons; according to the new regulations they have to pay 2 GEL.

“A subscriber, who has debt on electricity bill or has not timely paid the bill, will have to pay 2 GEL to have his/her electricity supply switched on. The Company, which does not timely receive the price of the spent electricity, is somehow damaged, so it was reflected in the normative act; consequently subscribers will get used to timely pay electricity bills in future,” Thea Chilindrishvili, lawyer of the JSC Kakheti Electricity Distribution Company told the ICK.
