Chamber of Control Fines Ivanishvili with GEL 2.7m

Bidzina Ivanishvili has been fined by the state audit agency, Chamber of Control, with GEL 2.72 million for making “illegal” political donations.

According to the statement disseminated by Chamber of Control on March 20th, administrative proceeding was underway in the Financial Monitoring Service of political parties on the illegal transfer of 406 525 GEL from the personal account of physical person Bidzina Ivanshilivi to members of Georgian Dream.

“After the case examination, we found that 272 597 was illegally transferred to people whose political activity is confirmed and it is linked to the political and electoral goals of Georgian Dream. In connection to illegal political financing, physical person Bidzina Ivanishvili was fined with ten times the amount of the illegal donation [GEL 272,597] in accordance to the Georgian legislation on March 16,” the state audit agency said without specifying provisions of allegedly violated law,” – the statement reads.
