Incidents at April 9 Memorial

April 10, 2012

On April 9, incidents occurred at the April 9 memorial.

A man in civil clothes physically assaulted a woman with a child when they were lighting candles near the memorial.

“Today I came to the memorial in honor of the child. A provocateur woman rushed to the place and was shouting something. Suddenly, a man in civil clothes approached and dragged me outside. He physically assaulted me and my child,” a woman told the Interpresnews and added that strange men abused her child who has cerebral palsy.

The witnesses said men in civil clothes expelled Genadi Kekelia and several other members of the IDP Civic Movement from the memorial surrounding territory and took them to unidentified direction.

Short after the incident, one more elderly woman was taken from the area; she told the Interpresnews that she was waiting for the President Mikheil Saakashvili at the memorial to ask him for assistance.
