Mouravi Threatened People for Having Attended Opening Ceremony of Georgian Dream

April 12, 2012

Deputy head of Akhmeta district police station Malkhaz Khubejasvhili, with the nickname “Mouravi” threatened Gocha and Baadur Basilashvilis from Alaverdi village with detention because they attended the opening ceremony of Georgian Dream’s office in Akhmeta.

“The office was opened on March 30 in Akhmeta. Next day, on Saturday, “Mouravi” came and cursed us loudly… why did you go there, I will arrest you. I am a pasture. Two days later a cow disappeared. Police officers came to my house and blamed me in theft alleging I had sold the cow to Azerbaijan people and I was to be arrested. Soon the cow appeared. They made me sign a paper but I do not know what was written there. They warned me against associating with them [Georgian Dream] in future,” Gocha Basilashvili told the ICK.

Information Center of Kakheti could not get through Malkhaz Khubejashvili despite many attempts. Akhemta district police station did not comment on the oppression on the supporters of the Georgian Dream.

According to the verified information, about 5 years ago, Malkhaz Khubejashvili was judged and found guilty for abusing his power. The conditional sentence was dropped early in term and before the parliamentary elections in 2008 he was restituted at the MIA office.
