Levan Bezhashvili Attended Party Meeting of the National Movement

On April 19, chairman of the Chamber of Control of Georgia Levan Bezhashvili attended the close meeting of the leaders of the National Movement in the working room of the Dedoplistskaro district governor.

Head of Dedoplistskaro district office of the political party Free Georgia Tamila Gurashvili reported to the ICK that according to her information the leaders of the ruling party discussed the issue of possible independent candidate of Dedoplistskaro district for the upcoming 2012 parliamentary elections.

Vice-speaker of the parliament Mikheil Machavariani, leader of the parliamentary majority Petre Tsiskarishvili, Kakheti regional governor Giorgi Gviniashvili, deputy regional governor Giorgi Sibashvili, Dedoplistskaro district governor Nikoloz Shanshiashvili, chairman of the municipal board Levan Bagashvili, independent MP from the district Avtandil Lekashvili, head of police department Giorgi Bunturi and sportsman Zaza Kedelashvili participated in the meeting.

Irine Urushadze, lawyer of the Transparency International – Georgia said that in accordance to the Article 9 of the Law of Georgia about Chamber of Control the head of the state audit company shall not take part in the activities of a political party. “If it was meeting of the ruling party members, Bezhashvili definitely breached the law,” Urushadze told the ICK.
