Georgian Dream Paid Triple Price for the Hall Rent in Dusheti

On May 11, Coalition Georgian Dream is meeting local inhabitants in the Dusheti Culture House. The head of the Georgian Dream’s Dusheti Office Dodo Chokheli told ICMM that they had to pay triple price for the hall rent.

“On May 11, we are meeting the local population. On May 3, we applied to the Dusheti municipal board with the request to rent a hall in the Culture House. They replied to us very late. Dusheti district deputy governor Nino Khutsishvili was in charge of renting the hall to us. She said we needed permission from the Mtskheta-Mtianeti regional governor. I called the district governor Vladimer Badagadze too and told him it was not problem if they did not or could not rent the hall to us; I said we could meet people in the street but inform them about their refusal to rent the hall. As I found out Badagadze did not have information about our request. They signed the rent-agreement with us 15 minutes after my conversation with the governor. However, we had to pay huge money for the rent. Many organizations and political parties rent that hall and nobody has ever paid so much for it. Others have paid 300 GEL for the same hall, while we were requested to pay 1 000 GEL. As for the National Movement, the ruling party, they usually use the hall for free,” Chokheli said.

Dusheti district deputy governor Nino Khutsishvili said she had not participated in estimating the price for the rent of the hall in Dusheti Culture House. “I supervised the drafting of the rent agreement in accordance to the law,” Khutsishvili said.

Non-profit legal entity Dusheti Culture House belongs to the Dusheti Culture-Education Center. Maia Savadze is director general of the Center; she told ICMM that rent price is estimated according to the expenditure and individual negotiation with the other party.
