MIA Reports Member of Renewed Georgia Detained as Accused of Swindle

Special Operative Department [SOD] of the MIA arrested Valeri Gabelia of the political party for Renewed Georgia for swindle though his party-members claim he was detained on political grounds.

According to the statement of the MIA on the basis of Hijran Aliev’s and Habil Bashaev’s statement, Kvemo Kartli Regional Main Division of MIA launched investigation on the fact of swindle, the violation envisaged under the article 180 III part of the Criminal Code of Georgia.

As a result of inquiry the following was established: in the beginning of 2009 Valeri Gabelia, previously convicted for swindle and currently under probationary sentence, illegally appropriated 10.000 USD through swindling by abuse of Hijar Aliev’s and Habil Bashaev’s confidence. In return Valeri Gabelia promised that he would include their relative, Nasim Ibragimov in the list of paroled persons.

In connection with the mentioned fact Valeri Gabelia was detained as an accused on June 23 of the current year by Special Operative Department.
