Father of Arrested Activist from Georgian Dream Died on the ground of Nervousness

July 30, 2012
Ilia Suliashvili is a Georgian Dream member who is currently arrested and whose 64-year-old father, Tamaz Suliashvili died from anxiety. This is what the deceased man’s neighbors in the village Chalaubani told to Khaketi Information Centre.

“He was a healthy person, not ill at all, but when his son was arrested he became extremely worried. He was sitting on a chair when he suddenly fell down. No one was able to help him,” the neighbors said.

Georgian Dream member Ilia Suliashvili who was a registrar with the program “Door to Door” was arrested on July 1. He was charged with minor hooliganism and was sentenced to 35 days imprisonment under the administrative code. There were signs of injury on Ilia Suliashvili’s body. George and Lali Fridonishvili were the ones who reported Ilia Suliashvili to the police. They claimed that Ilia Suliashvili physically and verbally assaulted them. Ilia Suliashvili claimed that he was attacked by three people on the basis of being a member of Georgian Dream. Khaketi Information Centre has learned that George and Lali Fridonashvili are relatives of Khaketi governor George Gviniashvili. The governor himself is from Chalaubani and his parents still live in the village.

According to the court’s decision, Ilia Suliashvili cursed the ruling party and the President. Suliashvili’s prison term ends in one week.
