Unpaid Land Taxes Stopped Out of Retired People’s Pensions

August 21, 2012

Disabled resident of Giorgitsminda village, Sagarejo district Solomon Jamalashvili claims that money has been stopped out of his pension for the last 9 months already.

“They argue I have not paid 2 000 lari of land tax arrears and they have been stopping money out of my pension since November of 2011. The pension is my only income. If they have to stop my debt out of my pension, why did they sequester my car in summer,” Solomon Jamalashvili wonders.

More than 500 pensioners could not receive their pensions of March and April in 2011. About 100 families remained without social aid. The revenue service automatically stopped the funds out of the accounts of retired and socially disabled people and transferred it to the budget. After ICK spread information about these facts, the Revenue Service clarified that they had removed sequestration from the accounts of pensioners and socially disabled families though as it became clear, money is still taken away from their pensions.
