Public Officials joined Georgian Dream in Poti

September 10, 2012

Bidzina Ivanshivili- Georgian Dream and their majoritarian candidate in Poti Eka Beselia have supporters even in public agencies. On September 7, another public official Zurab Malania, main specialist of Sport Service Department at the Poti City Hall, joined them.

Sportsman, Georgian champion and winner of world competitions, Europe Prize Holder and World Champion of Eastern Battles in 2009 Iago Sordia publicly declared his support for the Coalition.

Eka Beselia mentioned this fact at special briefing: "It is very important for us that few days before the elections, representatives of the Georgian sport joined Georgian Dream. It means that special attention should be paid to this area in future. Zurab Malania is a coach of the most popular sport in Poti – rowing; however this sport faces serious problems nowadays.”

As it was said on briefing Malania wanted to attend Eka Beselia’s meeting with sports society of Poti.  After he was categorically warned from the City Hall he decided to publicly declare his opinion.

According to Zurab Malania, National Movement plans to influence public officials. “I am sure that they will order us to work for the National Movement. That’s why I openly support Georgian Dream and Eka Beselia,” Zurab Malania said, who still continues working for the sport department at the City Hall. If he is fired, it would be evaluated as political persecution.

“Every public official has right to express his sympathy and support for any political group. Saakashvili’s regime permanently uses political instruments against free-thinking people and mostly against public officials. We welcome every person who has enough courage and uses their constitutional right to express their position without fear”, Eka Beselia said.

Some time ago, Davit Kvitsiani, an employee of the supervision service, Zurab Khaindrava an employee of Resource Center and Lasha Gobejishvili employee of economic development in Poti City Hall publicly declared their support for the Coalition.
