Germany Granted Political Shelter to Former Lecturer of the Telavi University

September 14, 2012

Germany granted political shelter to Archil Jorjadze, former coordinator of the Law Faculty at the Telavi Iakob Gogebashvili State University. Archil Jorjadze confirmed the information with the Information Center of Kakheti.

During 2008 parliamentary elections Archil Jorjadze was lawyer of the New Rights majoritarian candidate in Telavi Pikria Chikhradze. When working on this position, he quitted the university. Jorjadze said he was warned about creating problems unless he left the university. In 2009, Jorjadze went to Spain to study. According to him, he received a warning message from Georgia - if he arrived back, he would be arrested. Jorjadze did not name the harasser.

Former lecturer applied to the German authority for political shelter in November of 2010. The German authority satisfied his request now.
