Human Rights Center’s Lawyers Met Convicted People in Gldani and Rustavi Prisons

Human Rights House Tbilisi implements a project in the frame of program of the Eurasian Partnership Foundation and under this project the lawyers of the Human Rights Center met several prisoners in the Rustavi Prison # 17 and Prison # 8 on September 18.

The project aims to provide socially vulnerable part of society (IDPs, impoverished people, prisoners, etc) with free legal aid and it covers: legal consultation, documenting, representation at various institutions and court including the European Court of Human Rights.

Two member organizations of the HRHT are involved in the project – Human Rights Center and Article 42 of the Constitution. HRC provides citizens with legal aid in criminal cases and Article 42 in civil and administrative cases.

Throughout the project implementation prisoners from the Gldani and Rustavi prisons applied to the HRHT for help. During their meeting with the HRC lawyers, they spoke about their problems. The Center will adequately respond to all cases of those prisoners.
