“My Husband Fought in August War, How Can He Be a Traitor?!”

September 21, 2012

On September 20, near the Gldani Prison # 8, Tsitsino Abashidze, wife of the prisoner Tariel Abashidze, told journalists she is afraid to visit her husband because if he tells anything about abuse he might be killed.

Abashidze added her husband Tariel Abashidze is illegal prisoner. He was arrested under charge of high treason a year ago. Before that he was personal military pilot of President Mikheil Saakashvili. He was decorated with St. George’s award and fought in 2008 August war.

“I have two little children and it is very difficult to bring them up without father. My husband is not a traitor. He is patriot and he was put in prison by mistake. My husband fought in August War, how can he be a traitor?! People, I need your support. Help me like you assisted photo reporters and maybe we will manage to take my husband out of the prison together,” Tsitsino Abashidze urged journalists.
