Public Movement Established in Kutaisi

September 21, 2012

On September 21, protest rally was held at the Kutaisi Regional Prosecutor’s Office. Representatives of media and non-governmental organizations joined the demonstration by silent marching.

On September 20, demonstrators, mostly representatives of nongovernmental and media organizations, founded public movement “Stop the Act”.

“We protest facts that occurred in Gldani prison. This sadism must be eradicated from different prisons of the country. The culprits among whom there are officials must be punished exemplarily,” the rally participants stated.

From September 21, the public movement will hold protest assemblies in front of state agencies during next ten days. The rally participants will organize silent marching dressed in black t-shirts “Stop Torture.”
