Public Defender's Office released a statement regarding Goderdzi Kiknadze’s case

The Public Defender's Office has released a statement regarding Goderdzi Kiknadze’s case.

The statement reads that their representative met Goderdzi Kiknadze on September 22 and now he requests meeting with the representatives of the Prosecutor’s Office.  

“On September 22, 2012, representative of the Public Defender of Georgia visited and took an explanatory note from convict Goderdzi Kiknadze who is held in the Rustavi Penal establishment No. 6. The convict talked about physical pressure he had been subjected to at different times in Establishment No. 6. According to the convicted, the purpose of his physical abuse was to refrain from making information about circumstances related with the murder of T.D. in the former Prison # 5 in 2001 public.  Goderdzi Kiknadze says that on September 19 he went on a hunger strike with a demand to stop ill-treatment against him. As of today, he demands a meeting with a representative of the Chief Prosecutor’s Office to whom he will give a testimony about the aforementioned case,” the Public Defender’s statement reads. 

According to the statement, he Public Defender’s Office will send the materials at its disposal to the Chief Prosecutor’s Office.
 At the time of the visit of the Public Defender’s representatives, the convict bore injuries. According to an entry made by a neuropathology consultant in convict Goderdzi Kinknadze’s medical card on September 21, he has a light concussion,” the statement reads.

Due to health problems of Goderdzi Kiknadze, Public Defender’s Office recommends the Ministry of Corrections and Legal Aid to take relevant measures with regard to the convicted.
