Citizen Protests National Movement’s Poster

September 25, 2012

Tina Mikeladze requested to change election poster of Robert Chkhaidze - majoritarian candidate of the National Movement in the Supreme Council of Adjara. Tina Mikeladze is pictured on the aforementioned poster with Chkhaidze and three other citizens. She does not wish to be on the post after shocking video-footage was aired by TV-companies.

“After those horrible footage on prisoners’ torture were aired, as a Georgian person, mother of three children I do not want to be on to poster of the National Movement. This degrades my family, my relatives,” Tina Mikeladze said.

Giorgi Kirtadze, National Movement’s spokesperson and chairman of the Batumi City Council stated that the agitation materials will not be changed: “This woman was at the meeting of majoritarian candidate. Naturally, she might be captured by photographer and we could use any of the photos for the poster. We have not breached the law and despite her request we are not going to change it.”
