“Yesterday’s decision on video and photo recording of ballot process is quite differs from the one the government wanted to pass through. I hope Christian-Democrats will clarify why they voted for it whilst I was claiming that our representative in the CEC was not going to participate in the ballot. I keep my promise and cancel my candidature”,-Inga Grigolia said.
According to the September 24 resolution of Central Election Commission photo and video recording will be allowed only from specially allocated places in polling stations during entire ballot process. According to Zurab Kharatishvili-the CEC chairman relocation during photo and video shooting will be able only during 10 minutes from time the election begins. Then cameras will be placed 3 meters aware from certain places in the specially allocated spots. It is prohibited to video or photo record voters’ list and ballot cabin (inside). Photo/video recording is allowed from the very first visit of a voter till the drawing up final protocol. As Zurab Kharatishvili clarified shooting will not be limited when a public figure arrives at the polling station to vote. Besides, special places for cameras must be allocated so that they focus at least on the ballot box. CEC affirmed the resolution with 11 votes against 2. Christian-Democrats supported this resolution.
On the previous day, Inga Grigolia wrote on her personal page in the social network facebook:” I swear, if my party votes for this resolution (and I am sure they will not do that), they will turn up betrayers and I will make different decision).”
Inga Grigolia was Christian-Democratic Movement’s majoritarian candidate in Gldani district in Tbilisi.
