Polling Process Video-Recorded in Karajala PS #22 According to the Government’s Instructions

October 1, 2012

Human Rights Center observer filed the first complaint in the Karajala PS # 22 of Lagodekhi DEC # 15. According to the observer, certain Kobulov Shirman video-records ongoing polling process in the polling station non-stop though he does not have right but claims government had ordered him to video-record the process.

“Karajala PS # 22 is opened in a small space. Kobulov Shirman is standing in one corner and is video-recording everything non-stop. He is not a journalist; he is not wearing a badge of a media representative or an observer. He has handmade ID card on his cloth and it states that he represents “Freedom – Zviad Gamsakhurdia’s way,” the observer said.

Observer applied to the commission chairman and asked to find out who the person was and to eradicate the law violation. However, the chairman did not envisage the recommendation and Kobulov Shirman still video-records ongoing process.

Human Rights Center’s observer said voters are very active in the polling process and there are queues in front of polling stations.
