Two activists of the Georgian Dream from Khoni were arrested for minor hooliganism on August 21 and released on October 9. Motive of Soso Sulava’s and Koba Kublashvili’s detention was argument with National Movement’s coordinator.
“In fact we just asked the National Movement’s coordinator not to threaten our supporters. There was no physical controversy between us and the so-called victim also admitted it at the trial. So, we did not deserve the imposed punishment; moreover, they released us now because Georgian Dream won the elections,” Soso Sulava said when he was released from Bagdati pre-trial detention establishment.
Koba Kublashvili was placed in Kutaisi medical center due to health problems and he was released from that medical institution.
Both former detainees believe they were arrested on political grounds.
Kublashvili said before detention head of National Movement’s Khoni office Levan Bobokhidze had threatened him with detention.
Coalition activists were early released based on the judge’s statement, which was released after the elections. According to the statement, the judge requested to annul the judgment.
