Tamaz Molashvili Requests To Take His Son to City Hospital

October 18, 2012
Tamaz Molashvili, Union of Human Rights Defenders and Lawyer Gela Nikolaishvili request to immediately take prisoner Tornike Molashvili to city hospital.

On October 18, Tamaz Tamazashvili said at the press-conference that his son Tornike Molashvili has acute arthritis and needs urgent surgery that cannot be done in jail hospital.

Besides that, Tamaz Molashvili appeals to the new government and urges to promptly reconsider the case of his son because he is arbitrary prisoner.

Tamaz Molashvili recalled details of Tornike Molashvili’s detention. He said before his detention senior officials actively negotiated with Tornike Molashvili. Former minister of interior Vano Merabishvili offered him high position in the MIA.

Tamaz Molashvili clarified that initially Guram Donadze, senior official of the ministry, was mediator between his son and the MIA. When Tornike Molashvili was about to sign the labor contract, Merabishvili offered him to ask his brother, Sulkhan Molashvili [chairman of the Chamber of Control during Shevardnadze’s authority] to withdraw his appeal from the Strasbourg Court but Tornike refused.

Tamaz Molashvili said his son was arrested after this conversation and drugs were planted in his car.

Brother of the former chairman of the Chamber of Control Tornike Molashvili was arrested on June 21, 2011. He was sent to prison for 8 years and 6 months.

Tamaz Molashvili clarified that after detention of his son, Minister of Justice Zurab Adeishvili sent mediator to him who offered their family to withdraw application from the Strasbourg Court in exchange of what they promised to release Tornike Molashvili from prison.

After the press-conference, member of the Penitentiary Department’s monitoring group, who is correspondent of Interpresnews, visited Tornike Molashvili in prison. The convicted told the journalist that he has problems with heart and both knees and requires immediate surgery.

In addition to that, Molashvili reported that after his father gave a press-conference, he met chief doctor of the prison Irakli Murjikneli. “Murjikneli promised to take me to the hospital which I request and my surgery will be scheduled with the agreement of my family members,” said Tornike Molashvili.
