Ministry of Justice Refuses to Manage Computer Network of Parliament

October 29, 2012

Ministry of Justice refuses to manage the networks and services of Parliament, State Audit Service and other Ministries.

As the Minister of Justice Tea Tsulukiani said at today’s briefing, she has Zurab Adeishvili’s inheritance in the ministry; they managed networks and computers of parliament, State Audit Service, ministries of energy, sport and youth affairs and other ministries.

The Minister made the decision to stop managing networks of the state departments by the Ministry of Justice.

The Minister says time is needed to perfect this decision, which is linked to certain technological changes.

According to early calculations by the Ministry of Justice, this process of transferring needs an investment of 400,000 GEL in the beginning only for Parliament and then annually 800,000 GEL to return the data base and provide independent management of the networks.

As Tea Tsulukiani told InterPressNews, management of the computer programs of other ministries by the Ministry of Justice has nothing to do with the cyber security.

As she says, cyber threats remains one of the important components of security, which is provided by the state, though it will be ensured without controlling computer systems of other departments.

Tsulukiani says that computer networks of the court were also in the system, though after the elections, courts closed the system.
