Kutaisi City Court Did not Uphold Paata Zakareishvili’s Lawsuit

November 1, 2012

On October 30, Kutaisi City Court did not upheld Paata Zakareishvili’s lawsuit; he was majoritarian candidate of the Coalition Georgian Dream in Tskaltubo district and currently State Minister for Reintegration Issues. He had sued National Movement’s Tskaltubo district coordinator Vaso Gogelia for false accusation. Zakareishvili requested Gogelia to apologize to him on TV and to pay 1000 USD as a moral compensation.

Coordinator of the Georgian Dream’s office Nato Katamadze said: “It took Kutaisi City Court one week to pass verdict on the case. The court declined all our requests. I think it was wrong judgment because Gogelia publicly blamed Zakareishvili in “selling” bodies of killed warriors for 1000 USD during Abkhazian war.”

Coalition representatives intend to appeal the verdict at the Appeal Court.
