Traders of Sachkhere Agricultural Market on Strike

November 1, 2012

On October 30, employees of Sachkhere district agricultural market went on strike. They protested sold market and doubled taxes.

To resolve the problem the traders applied to Manana Kobakhidze, majoritarian MP of Sachkhere district from the Georgian Dream. Kobakhidze met the market administration members but in vain,

Traders said after Kobakhidze met the market administration members, their situation worsened. They received new contracts where tax-amount was not mentioned. Unless traders sign the contract, the new owner of the market threatened them not to allow them into the market territory.

The traders suppose the administration intends to increase their taxes and the new contracts are vague on that ground. They request to return the market to the state and applied the Sachkhere district MP to resolve this problem.

Traders also petitioned to the new governor of Sachkhere district Vano Goshadze who promised them to help.

Mari Tabidze, Sachkhere
