Levan Gogichaishvili Against Being Pardoned

November 15, 2012

Founder of Youth HQ of April 9, convicted Levan Gogichaishvili was pardoned by president but the prisoner is categorically against it. Levan Gogichashvili informed Interpresnews about his decision from custody.

“On November 14, I received a notice from social service that I was pardoned. I categorically rejected it. I believe it is impudent decision of Saakashvili. I have not petitioned to him for pardoning. In the past Saakashvili’s representatives, including Eka Kherkheulidze, used to come and ask us to petition for pardoning but I always rejected their proposals. This pardon is provocation against political prisoners. We do not need to leave prisons under Saakashvili’s blessing,” said Gogichaishvili.

He said he would officially reject the pardon with the support of his lawyers. Levan Gogichaishvili was arrested in 2009 under charge of body injury and was sentenced to seven-year imprisonment. He serves his term in Rustavi Prison # 17.
