Employees of Kindergartens in Samtredia Request Rise in Their Salaries

November 19, 2012

On November 15, teachers of Samtredia district kindergartens arrived at the district administration office to meet district governor. They wanted meeting with Governor Avtandil Sturua to request rise in their salaries.

The kindergarten teachers clarify that at the meeting district governor promised them to increase salaries at 30% but part of them protests this decision; they said 30% rise does not significantly change anything.

Currently, their salary is 100-150 lari that is much less than subsistence minimum. Teachers request to initially make their salaries equal to subsistence minimum and then increase it at 30%. Avntandil Sturua said teachers’ salaries will rise at 30% only because budget cannot afford more at the moment. Teachers will receive increased salaries from January, 2013.
