Demonstration In Kobuleti With Request of Resignation of District Governor and Chairman of Municipal Board

December 17, 2012

On December 17, activists of the Georgian Dream held an assembly in front of Kobuleti municipal board and district administration. They requested resignation of district governor and chairman of the municipal board and claimed that Georgian Dream’s members shall work in the local self-governmental agencies.

Mzia Surmanidze, participant of the assembly: “This government shall resign and give chance to the winner party because old government does not care about peasants at all. Consequently, new government will give jobs to unemployed youth.”

Gia Gogotidze, participant of the assembly: “We want those people in the district administration, who won elections. Let them resign or we will start hunger-strike.”

Tengiz Zoidze, Kobuleti district governor: “Municipal board is authorized to resign and to appoint me on the position. The board shall make decision. I am not going to resign yet.”

The assembly lasted several hours and about 100 citizens participated in it. They said unless their requests are satisfied, they will start hunger-strike.
